I'm not really sure if it's just me or if all the pregnancy literature you read is bunk, but my doctor's instructions vs. the pregnancy books don't exactly match up.
Of course, in the 1st trimester, I was basically just trying to get by, but sticking to Zumba a few days a week, and I got a few long walks and short jogs in. But it's definitely not at all recommended according to the pregnancy books and literature.
I asked my doctor about it at my last appointment, and he said to do whatever I felt like doing, and that I shouldn't consider myself disabled or anything like that, which was encouraging. No lifting restrictions (just listen to what my body tells me), and no watching to make sure my BPM stays below 140 or whatever.
Last night I made it out for the second run of my 2nd trimester, and while I was huffing and puffing and taking it pretty darn slow, I made it approximately 1.5 miles, which felt good. Of course, that was with walking breaks occasionally for the full 2 miles, but I'll take it.
I haven't tried Zumba in quite a few weeks, but I'll probably try to get back into it before long.
